Big Day for Byron, but #BigThingsForBrainCancer is bigger.
On Saturday the 16th of July Byron Bay Recreational Playing fields will host Byron Bay Rugby’s Charity day in aid of #BigThingsForBrainCancer, a charity that is very close to the Club’s heart. Brain Cancer can affect anyone at any time and all money raised on the day will go towards a fantastic cause. The club will be open to the public from 1.30, with numerous refreshments on sale to build a first class atmosphere before the games get under way. At 1.50 pm the day’s reserve grade fixture will kick off, where the mighty Mullumbimby Moonshiners will take on the Lennox Head Trojans in what promises to be an exciting game for the Moonshiners who currently sit atop of their league. The second match between the hosts of the day Byron Bay and Lennox Head will kick off at 3.15pm. Lennox who always travel with a good crowd and loud support will be keen to make up for the painful 40-7 loss they suffered at their home ground, when they faced off against Byron in the first half of the season. The game is highly anticipated to be a fierce matchup between the two sides, neither of whom will be willing to take a backwards step. With a promise of entertaining running rugby from all four sides on show, it’s set to be a day you won’t want to miss.
The day’s main charity event will start soon after the final whistle in the Byron vs Lennox game. There will be an auction for the limited edition Byron Bay charity playing jerseys. Be sure to stick around so you don’t risk missing out on the chance to bid for the playing jersey of your favourite Byron boy.
