First time in 5 years the Ashes may change hands.

It’s been 5 years since Mullumbimby Moonshiners played a competitive game against Byron Bay. Finally, the wait is over.

This Saturday, the ‘Shiners’ take on the Sandcrabs in reserve grade, in the Crabbies first season.

Byron Veteran and Sandcrab Captain, Roberto Lynch, cannot hide his excitement.
“I’ve never lost to Mullum and I ain’t gonna start now,” he said. “If that speedy guy Nathan gets on, I’m gonna plonk him right on the nose, he’ll never know it’s coming.”

The ‘Ashes’ were formed between the two teams after a messy night at the Rails.

“There’s all manner of sh*t in that urn, we were burning anything we could get our hands on in the smoko area. I wouldn’t know where to start, but trust me, it’s worth fighting for” said Captain Roberto.
