This Saturday (5th) sees Round 5 of the 2018 Far North Coast Rugby Season with the two premier teams in Byron Shire, Byron Bay Rugby and Bangalow Rebels facing each other for the first time this season.

The previous two seasons has seen both teams taking one a piece on the bragging rights, with both teams looking to get the first win between the two in the 2018 season.
“It’s been a slow start to the season for Byron. We’ve had plenty of injuries and haven’t had the numbers from previous years, having to go away from home with less than two playing sides. But we’ve stuck to our guns and come through for the wins. Morale is good amongst the boys.” Said Byron Bay Vice President Andy Teuma.
As it stands, 2 points seperate the clubs with Bangalow are top of the table after 4 wins, with Byron sitting at 3rd after only losing to reigning champions Wollongbar Pioneers.
In the Reserve grade, Byron/Suffolk Park Sandcrabs sit second after being undefeated. Bangalow Reserves sitting at 5th.
We caught up with Bangalow legend, and everyones favourite ranga, Will Latham who said, “It’s been a solid start to the season for us but this will be our biggest test so far. Byron vs Bangalow is always the most physical and fiery game of the season and the boys are really looking forward to Saturday afternoon”.
The games kick off at Byron Bay Memorial Recreation Grounds, Tennyson St
