After years of trying to find interest in Womens Rugby, Byron Bay Rugby are proud to announce that our Womens Team, The Byron Bay Bullets have their first fixture this Saturday, 26th May. After hard work in getting the team organised, new coach Curtis Bradford is taking the Bullets to Grafton with the help of a few local ladies.

“It will be great for the girls to have a actual game. They have been working really hard in training and everyone at the club is really excited to see the first women’s Rugby team in Byron Bay make history on the weekend. Massive credit goes to the girls, particularly captain Katie, who has been tirelessly hanging around the bars in Byron recruiting drunken unsuspecting travellers for this huge rugby project. It’s been a lot of fun to be involved with this group of girls who have embraced the challenge of taking up a new sport and forming a new team and whatever happens on Saturday I will be massively proud of the bullets.” – said Curtis Bradford.

It will be the first time Women have represented Byron Bay Rugby in the clubs 119 year history. They will be travelling to Grafton to take part in a exhibition where they will play two games of 7s.
Proud to wear the ‘Blue & White’ is Captain Katie Hookings is excited for the day.

“We are so excited as a team to be putting all of our hard work and training into practise, for the first ever Byron bay bullets game. It didn’t take too much convincing after a couple of beers to get a team together. The girls we have are all the biggest, toughest legends ever. Inspired by the great men’s teams we want to rep it for the women of Byron bay. Massive thanks to our passionate and patient coach Curtis, we are ready and rearing to kick some ass.”
