Paul Jeffery Announces his 23 Matchday Squad for Charity round against Lennox Head.

It’s been eight rounds since Byron Bay Rugby played at home with round 6 fixture against Bangalow being postponed and the home fixture against Ballina being held at Brunswick Heads.
The Club is excited to host another home fixture after a very exciting season.

This home game against Lennox Head Trojans is particularly special for Byron Bay as they host their charity game in aid of Brain Cancer and #BigThingsForBrainCancer. All the players will be wearing a one-off jersey to be auctioned off after the game. The Club looks to raise a substantial amount of money for the charity through raffles and BBQ too.
“We’ve been to the ‘Bottle-o’ and got heaps of piss.” Said starting scrum half Josh Smith, who was very optimistic towards the big day.
Byron Bay will also host the mighty Mullumbimby Moonshiners at the Rec Grounds who take on Lennox Head Reserves. The ‘Shiners looking to add to their winning streak. The event starting at 13:00 Sat 16th July.

On the field the Byron Bay Rugby team have been focusing on recovery and keeping their mental edge after last weeks nail-biting victory against Wollongbar- Alstonville Pioneers. Paul Jeffery has kept a strong side with the depth of the team and a chance to rest some players.

“I’ve decided to rest Harold Chiffoleau to freshen him up for the finals.” Said Head Coach Paul Jeffery. Welsh flyer Owain Roberts moves back to Fly half for the special occasion. “[I’ve] given Owain another opportunity to be our driver in the 10 Jersey … I’m looking to blow them off the park in the second half when the ‘terror twins’ Will Aisake and Troy Wynter come on into the second row”

Jeffery is very happy about the squads efforts this season. “This group of blokes have played out of their skins and I am very proud of them securing the Minor Premiership, the first in Byron Bay’s history”

With that being said they still have to face the likes of Lennox Head who will be contesting for Play-off advantages. After being smashed and embarrassed at home by a dominant Byron Bay round 4 Lennox Head will be traveling with support but with some strong wins this year the Trojans will be confident to take on ‘the Bay’.

Conor Newton gets the nod for his first start and Josh Smith shows his skill and diversity at half back. Miles Woods starts in second row with Ryan Betts. Jeffery has shown no sign of easing up the guns in the back with a fully loaded side and a return for Romey Vassell who stands in as back up.
